Kinda sorta. He raced Rally Mexico, but technically not as a WRC competitor. It's sorta like being in the regional division at a Rally America event. You're doing the same stages at the same event, but you're not on the National entry list or results. Which in Bill's case worked in his favor because that car wasn't legal for any of the actual WRC categories

I do dig the Ramcharger, and I suspect it would make a good story.

9/10, would rally the A112 Abarth.

That Ramcharger would have been neat to see.

Also an unlikely rally entrant, the Rover SD1:

Kinja'd!!!

Incidentally, I can't remember which one exactly, but there was some British racing series in which the Moskvitch was extremely successful, because the class divisions were based on purchase price; they were so cheap that despite not being all that great, they were still ahead of anything else that you could get for the money.

You don't see them very often; I suspect they make awesome rigs

Those may have run in the WRC, but they're not the one that surprised me. I knew a number of Vauxhall Chevettes ran, but I didn't know that for one event (Argentina) there was one Chevrolet-badged Chevette (a 1985) that competed.

Yeah didn't think I would come up with it after about 20 seconds.

Yeah, kinda sorta. I know E30 M3s competed in rally, but I'm not sure if any ran specifically in the WRC.

Actually there were some Group A-spec E30 M3's that competed in the late 80's and early 90's and did fairly well for themselves. One even won the 1987 Rally de France overall, beating out the AWD Lancia Deltas.

What year rally? Just looking around since I can't sleep.

For 85 found this :

http://www.ewrc-results.com/final.php?e=14…

But you are saying it would be labeled as Chevette entrant?

That's the one. The rally archive app I have listed it as a Chevette. On the plus side, knowing it was called a Celta did help me find a photo:

Kinja'd!!!

It does look a bit like the Brazil/Latin America-only Chevette sedan (picture is of a late 70's model), perhaps they renamed it the Celta for the Latin America market at some point?

Basically a chevette:

That is highly reminiscent of the Opel Kadett C:

They're all T-Body cars anyway, though I can't find the Celta.

Or the Vauxall Gemini. Change the headlights, ditch the back doors and that's pretty much it.

Kinja'd!!!

And I couldn't find anything on the Celta either, at least on any Celta from before the year 2000. It's all very confusing.

You know what. I don't think that's a Celta at all.

If you look here, the image is somewhere down the list:

http://www.bordin.net/fotos/automobi…

It says underneath: Sady Bordin / Tuca Cunha attending the world stage in the Rally of Cordoba in 1985. Second place with a Chevette!

Whatever exactly they mean by this, I don't know. WRC, perhaps? Anyway, it's a Chevette. There doesn't seem to be a pre-2000 Celta. It's not listed on the T-Body wiki entry , though that might mean jack all.
